The Bierhaus @ Akademik Suite

Mad Girls are raving with their food trails!

This time round, we treated our taste buds to something we do not usually taste! The Bierhaus serves a variety of food that incorporates Italian and German cuisine, and not forgetting beer. Cold, soothing beer. The Bierhaus has four branches in Johor Bahru, while the closest to us is the one along the road where Sunway College is situated.

The one we visited today was The Bierhaus at Akademik Suite in Taman Mount Austin.

Akademik Suite is a new apartment block, with shop lots downstairs, making it a hot hangout spot for many around Johor Bahru.

Customers can choose to sit indoors or outdoors, and the outdoor sitting area is designed mainly for smokers. So those who are uncomfortable with smoke can opt to sit inside. The ambiance is amazing, nice music and with appropriate lighting.

Now for food! 

Mixed salad

We started off with this mixed salad dressed with fragrant balsamic vinegar and appetising presentation. It whet our appetites because of the sour yet refreshing taste. 

Duck meat pizza

                                

This, is a must try. Crispy crust, great taste and smoked duck. So flavourful! Extremely suitable for people who loves the combination of duck and cheese. 

Grilled scallop wrapped with bacon served with spicy mayonnaise

This is another of our favourites, scallop and bacon! What could make a better marriage? Succulent scallop grilled with the juices lock inside it, wrapped with the good ol' bacon, grease and sea flavour - you can feel it dancing in your mouth.

Slow Roasted Lamb Shank

Succulent, juicy and flavourful lamb shank roasted and bathed with a special sauce, it made us want more and more!

Crispy Pork Knuckle

This is The Bierhaus' signature dish. Maybe we have all heard of the international famous German deep fried pork knuckles - but in Johor Bahru, the most acclaimed one is definitely from The Bierhaus, with their rendition of the German deep fried pork knuckles. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. It's served on a huge platter with mashed potatoes and a variety of sauces. Our favourite is the apple sauce, sweet and sour, perfect with the fried skin of the pork knuckle.

Crispy Potato Wedges 

This place is great for gatherings and for people who crave for a bit of alcohol outside their own homes, and is extremely popular during weekends! Even on weekdays, we can see the working class chilling there after a day of toiling at the office. Do try it out!
